New Bridge Connecting Bagan Datuk to Perak Tengah
Many may have missed this interesting news, which has actually been underway since July 2017. The project, involving the construction of a 1.5-kilometer bridge, is being built to connect Bagan Datuk with Perak Tengah, with Kampung Sejagop serving as the meeting point.
The access road to the new bridge will be 8.7 kilometers long, complete with a sewerage and drainage system along the main road. Traffic lights will also be installed at the junction for the Bagan Datuk to Perak Tengah route to improve traffic flow.
With the construction of this bridge connecting the two districts, the route is expected to become a major alternative path, saving users both time and travel costs. The construction of this bridge demonstrates the efforts of both the federal and state governments to develop rural areas.
Bagan Datuk has undergone many changes since a native son of Bagan Datuk became Deputy Prime Minister. Now, Bagan Datuk has become the 12th district in the state of Perak, and what we see today is that Bagan Datuk has great potential to become a developed district.
The construction of the bridge connecting these two districts, valued at RM466.9 million, is seen as a blessing for residents in both districts, who will enjoy various developments in terms of both economy and social welfare.
Furthermore, this major project is seen as capable of changing the image of Perak's 12th district, Bagan Datuk, from being a marginalized area or the so-called 'end of Perak' that has lacked the benefits of development for decades.
Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also announced that the bridge construction is expected to be fully completed by July 2020, with work having commenced in July 2017. It will take 36 months to reach full completion.
"Opportunities only come once in a lifetime, and this is not just about development but also about commitment. Seize the opportunities available so that Bagan Datuk is not left behind and can progress just like other districts. When I close my eyes for the last time, I do not want my services to be remembered or praised; it is enough that there is no criticism against me, because I do all of this sincerely for the people of Bagan Datuk," said Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
