Sejarah Discovery of Stegodon Fossil in Gua Gopeng, Perak: New Evidence of Ancient Mammal Evolution in Southeast Asia
The discovery of a Stegodon tooth fossil, a type of ancient elephant, in Gua Gopeng, Perak in 2017 is one of the most valuable paleontological findings in Malaysia. The fossil is believed to be between 199,000 and 233,000 years old, making it one of the earliest pieces of evidence of Stegodon presence in Peninsular Malaysia.
