. The story begins when the late Sultan Idris I (the 28th Sultan of Perak) departed for London to attend Queen Victoria's coronation in 1888. When the Perak royal delegation arrived safely in London, Queen Victoria's representative met with the late Sultan Idris I's entourage for a briefing on the preparations.

Victoria

The escort for the late Sultan Idris I (the 28th Sultan of Perak) at that time was the late Raja Mansor. During the meeting between the late Raja Mansor and Queen Victoria's representative for the initial briefing, the representative requested the musical score for the Perak state anthem. The purpose was for the Perak state anthem to be played when the late Sultan Idris I (the 28th Sultan of Perak) entered the official ceremony held at Queen Victoria's palace. At that time, the state of Perak did not yet have any official musical score.

To save face for the Sultan and due to the late Raja Mansor's wisdom, he stated that he had forgotten to bring it, and if the Queen's representative could provide a music expert who could transcribe the music, the late Raja Mansor could whistle the melody. It is said that on the day of the historic event at Queen Victoria's palace in London, the Perak state anthem was officially played for the first time during Queen Victoria's coronation in 1888. For your information, loyal readers of orangperak.com, this Perak state anthem was originally a song composed by the French composer Pierre Jean de Beranger (1780-1857). This song was introduced by a French band performing on Mahé Island, located in the Seychelles archipelago.

Sultan Abdullah

The late Sultan Abdullah (the 26th Sultan of Perak)

At that time, the late Sultan Abdullah (the 26th Sultan of Perak), who ruled Perak from 1874 to 1877, had been arrested and faced legal action, resulting in his exile by the British government on March 30, 1877, for allegedly being involved in the assassination of the first British Resident, JWW Birch, in Pasir Salak. As an art enthusiast and practitioner, the late Sultan Abdullah (the 26th Sultan of Perak) continued to hone his talent as a composer while in exile and introduced the song, which was later adopted as the official state anthem of Perak around 1888, following the events described earlier.
