Perak Launches First Mosque and Surau Study Class Module in Malaysia

Previously, there was no specific curriculum taught in mosques and suraus as classes were conducted informally and managed by the mosque or surau committee members. Therefore, the state of Perak has implemented a major transformation by providing a special module certified by the mufti for use.

A total of 386 takmir teachers involved in mosques and suraus throughout Perak will be trained to teach this newly introduced module as soon as possible using audiovisual aids and thumb drives. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on all Muslims in the state of Perak.

The 35th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin, launched the mosque and surau takmir study class curriculum module and the Perak state takmir teacher code of ethics, the first of its kind in Malaysia, on November 17, 2017, at Dewan Saidina Abu Bakar, Perak Islamic Administration Institute (Intim).

The launch of this first-of-its-kind module in Malaysia was held in conjunction with the 2017 Islamic Education Excellence Awards Ceremony. The parties involved in preparing this special module took two years to develop a more systematic study program for mosques and suraus, covering subjects such as Fiqh, Sirah, Tawhid, and Akhlaq.

All Muslims in the state of Perak are very fortunate with the launch of this module, the first of its kind in Malaysia. Furthermore, young people in Perak can now seek and deepen their religious knowledge at suraus and mosques instead of wasting time on unproductive activities.
