Perak-born Rider Becomes Malaysia's First Moto3 World Champion

This young Perak-born rider from Kampung Gajah, Perak, has brought glory to the nation and made history by becoming the first Malaysian rider to win a MotoGP World Championship in the Moto3 category at the 2016 Argentina Motorcycle Grand Prix. The 18-year-old rider from Honda Team Asia clocked a time of 41 minutes 35.452 seconds over 21 laps at the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit.

Then, in his debut Moto3 GP season in 2016, he secured a spot with the Honda Asia team and went on to become the champion of the Moto3 category at the 2016 Argentina Motorcycle Grand Prix.

The Dato Sagor circuit facilities in Kampung Telok Sareh, Kampung Gajah, are said to be where Khairul Idham Pawi has trained for two hours every day since he was 14 years old. Khairul Idham is currently ranked fourth overall among world riders.
