The story we wish to share is about a soldier from our homeland, Malaysia, who was a hero hailing from Pantai Remis, Perak.

At the same time, an injured female communist terrorist threw a hand grenade, which wounded the late Major Zainal Abdul Rashid. His extraordinary courage and high leadership qualities ignited the fighting spirit of his other men to attack the enemy.

In the end, they succeeded in killing six of the 15 terrorists and seized a 60 mm mortar, seven rifles, ammunition, bombs, and other equipment. Sadly, the late Major Zainal Abdul Rashid also fell in the battle. A year later, the late Major Zainal Abdul Rashid was posthumously awarded the Seri Pahlawan Gagah Perkasa medal on June 1, 1977.
