Sultan Alauddin Mughayat Shah (12th Sultan of Perak)
In 1720, following the passing of the 11th ruler of Perak, Sultan Mahmud Iskandar Shah, his nephew Raja Radin was installed as the 12th Sultan of Perak.
Raja Radin was the son of Raja Mansur and the grandson of Sultan Mudzaffar Shah II (10th Sultan of Perak). He was installed as the 12th Sultan of Perak with the title Sultan Alauddin Mughayat Shah.
Geronggong became the royal residence for Sultan Alauddin Mughayat Shah. He resided there with his younger brother, Raja Inu, who was appointed as the Raja Muda.
The history of Johor-Riau recounts the reign of Sultan Alauddin Mughayat Shah, during which Daing Merewah, who held the title Kelana Jaya Putera and was the first Yamtuan Muda of Riau, came to attack the state of Perak.
The attack launched by Daing Merewah was supported by the Bugis people in Selangor in 1728. This assault caused chaos and disrupted the economic activities in the state of Perak.
Despite repeated attacks, the state of Perak could not be conquered and remained standing firm against the enemy. Some perspectives suggest that Raja Inu (the Sultan's younger brother), who originally lived in Bernam, assisted Daing Merewah in attacking Perak due to a desire to seize the throne. However, there are no authentic sources or evidence to support this.
Sultan Alauddin Mughayat Shah passed away in 1728 and was laid to rest in Geronggong, earning the posthumous title Marhum Sulong. The royal tomb once fell into the Perak River but was relocated to land and restored during the reign of Sultan Idris II.
