Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah (3rd Sultan of Perak)

27 Jan 2020 · 1 min read · 8 ·By Freddie Aziz Jasbindar
The late Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah ruled the state of Perak for only about seven years and passed away in 1584, subsequently being given the title Marhum Muda.

Following the news of the passing of Sultan Mansur Shah I (Marhum Kota Lama Kanan, 2nd Sultan of Perak), the dignitaries of Perak traveled to the state of Aceh to seek an audience with the Sultan of Aceh.

The Sultan of Aceh at that time was the eldest son of the late Sultan Mansur Shah I (2nd Sultan of Perak), named Sultan Alauddin Mansur Shah, and the dignitaries of Perak requested a ruler to be appointed as the Sultan of Perak. Sultan Alauddin Mansur Shah then consented and sent his younger brother, Raja Ahmad, to be installed as the new Sultan of Perak, who then took the title Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah (3rd Sultan of Perak).

At that time, the state of Perak remained under the suzerainty of Aceh. After ascending the throne of Perak, Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah initially resided in a place called Julang (Jalong). However, because the area was frequently flooded, he moved and established his residence at a new location called Geronggong, situated within the mukim of Pulau Tiga.

The son left behind by the late Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah at that time was named Raja Inu, who held the title Raja Kecil Lasa. Approximately one year after the Sultan of Perak passed away, Sultan Alauddin Mansur Shah (Sultan of Aceh) also passed away.

His mother and relatives, who had previously been taken to Aceh, then returned to the state of Perak. From that point on, the power of the Aceh Sultanate over the state of Perak began to fade little by little.

The tomb of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah (3rd Sultan of Perak) is located in Kampung Jawa, near Kampung Gajah. Near the tomb of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah, there are also the tombs of the 11th Sultan of Perak and the 12th Sultan of Perak. References
