Perak to Implement E-Parking System in 2019
The Perak state government will introduce a smartphone application for parking payments (e-parking) starting in 2019. Perak State Executive Councillor Yong Choo Kiong stated that the system provides another option for the public alongside the current coupon system.
As previously decided, the use of parking coupons will be standardized effective January 1, 2019. With this standardization, users will no longer need to purchase different coupons for each Local Authority (PBT) area. Another method being introduced with e-parking is a user-friendly and time-saving application. Perak State Executive Councillor Yong Choo Kiong hopes that both systems can be implemented simultaneously in 2019. The company responsible for developing the application will begin briefing sessions at each Local Authority (PBT) starting in August 2018. These briefings will include enforcement procedures that need to be noted.
The system is very easy to use; users simply select the relevant Local Authority (PBT) area, then enter their vehicle number and parking duration. When the parking time expires, users can extend it via their phone without needing to return to their vehicle. As for enforcement officers, they will also be equipped with a special application to check whether a vehicle has paid the parking fee before issuing compounds to users who fail to comply.
