This program is an initiative to introduce Singaporeans and international tourists to the cuisine, packaged food products, and popular local dishes from Perak's small-scale agro-industries, while simultaneously enhancing the state's brand as a culinary and tourism destination. The program also serves as a business platform for Malaysia, particularly Perak, to promote products to the Singaporean market and introduce potential buyers from the republic. Among the products promoted there are Putu Perak Ipoh, Cucur Peneram Bagan Serai, Lenggong Pekasam, Rendang Masak Hitam, and Mee Kicap. Additionally, popular foods included in the International Culinary Map are Nasi Vanggey, Salt-Baked Chicken in Ipoh, Ayam Goreng Berempah Gulam Rasul in Teluk Intan, Laksa in Pulau Pangkor, and Nasi Buluh from Sungai Klah. In conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017, these world-class destinations are expected to attract many visitors: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lenggong Valley, the world's oldest rainforest Royal Belum, the Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve—awarded as the best-managed mangrove forest in the world—and the British colonial historical sites in Taiping. The program runs from December 19, 2016, to January 15, 2017, at Sultan Gate, Singapore. People of Perak...! What are you waiting for? Let's check out all the eateries listed above.
