Perak Police Enhance Training to Protect Sultan and Leaders
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) of Perak is actively conducting intensive training programs for officers tasked with ensuring the safety of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, as well as the royal family and state leaders. This proactive measure was taken to increase operational readiness following an attempted attack on His Royal Highness last August.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, emphasized that this initiative aims to strengthen existing security measures to prevent any untoward incidents from recurring.
"This initiative strengthens security measures for Sultan Nazrin Shah to prevent any untoward incidents from recurring," he said.
According to him, security protocols for His Royal Highness have been enhanced by the Special Actions Unit (UTK) following recent developments. He added that the recruitment process for new escort officers for the Sultan of Perak is also underway as part of these security improvement efforts.
He said this to reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the 'Ter Paling Pahlawan' 2025 Challenge organized by the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters (IPD).
These tightened security measures follow a high-profile incident on August 31, where a woman attempted to attack Sultan Nazrin during the state-level National Day celebration.
The 41-year-old woman, who reportedly has a history of psychiatric treatment, was arrested and charged at the Ipoh Magistrate's Court on September 8 in connection with the incident.
