Bukit Larut Resort to Reopen This April After Five Years of Closure.

Bukit Larut Resort, which has been closed for five years due to a landslide in 2019, is expected to reopen starting this April. This reopening comes after repair and improvement works on four bungalows in the area were fully completed through funding from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) President, Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir, stated that repair works on the affected slope roads have been carried out in stages by the Public Works Department (JKR) since 2019.

He also emphasized that the reopening of this resort is in line with MPT's efforts to support Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and boost the tourism sector in Taiping.

"MPT does not want to be left behind in promoting local tourism, especially in Taiping. Therefore, we are working to resume operations at Bukit Larut Resort with several management improvements," explained Khairul Amir after the MPT Full Board Meeting at Wisma Perbandaran Taiping on Wednesday.

New Facilities for Visitors
Three bungalows, namely Banglo Beringin, Banglo Angkasa, and Banglo Tempinis, will be opened for rent. Visitors have the opportunity to rent the entire bungalow or individual rooms. Additionally, vehicle rental services to the peak of Bukit Larut will also be provided, but only for bungalow guests.

"Tenants can choose whether they want to use a vehicle or hike to the peak," added Khairul Amir.

For extreme sports enthusiasts, designated camping areas will also be reopened. Camping operations for hikers will begin on February 17, while bungalow and vehicle rental services will operate starting April 1.

Safety and Management Procedures
To ensure visitor safety, all individuals entering the Bukit Larut Resort area are required to fill out an indemnity form and scan the provided QR code upon entry and exit.

The reopening of this resort is expected to attract more tourists and contribute to the recovery of the local tourism economy, especially ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

With improved infrastructure and more systematic management, Bukit Larut Resort is expected to become a premier destination for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful stay in Taiping.
