Beruas Town Turns 100 in 2018
Every old building plays a vital role in reflecting the passage of time through the architectural styles applied to structures built in specific eras. The design and architecture showcased in a building actually have 1,001 stories to tell everyone.
For our loyal readers at orangperak.com, the buildings we see in Beruas today have been standing there since 1918. At one time, Beruas was a very busy transit town for various types of business, especially the tin trade.
Beruas town also has its own unique charm, as it is often associated with the lost legends of the Gangga Negara Kingdom and the Malay Kingdom of Beruas. Several artifacts have been discovered by villagers and historical researchers, and these items can be viewed at the Beruas Museum.
Therefore, it is a commendable effort by the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM), in collaboration with local building owners in the small town of Beruas, to spruce up the area in celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2018.
This initiative can indirectly help establish the small town of Beruas as a cultural and historical tourist destination. Many know that the golden age of Beruas was before independence, and the atmosphere of that time still lingers in the memories of the elders around Beruas.
