A Malaysian solo climber who conquered 3 Himalayan peaks in a month in 2015 has now begun a solo cycling expedition across Peninsular Malaysia. This expedition, themed 'From My Mosque I Explore 2017', will see him stopping at various mosques along his journey.

Khairil Aslan Ab Rasid, a Perak State Youth Sports Icon, is a native of Batu Kurau, Taiping. During this expedition, he stopped at his hometown in Kampung Anak Kurau on April 21. He began his 30-day solo cycling expedition across Peninsular Malaysia on April 16.

The expedition covers approximately 2,700 kilometers, starting at Masjid Bandar Seri Putra, Bangi, Selangor, and will conclude at the same mosque on May 12. He expects to cover 100km per day. His route through Perak began on the second day in Teluk Intan, Manjung, and Pulau Pangkor.

On the third and fourth days, he completed the challenging route around Pulau Pangkor. On the fifth day, he left Pulau Pangkor and traveled through Manjung, Segari, and Pantai Remis.

On the sixth day, he passed through Pantai Remis, Trong, Taiping, Kamunting, and Batu Kurau, before stopping at the Masjid Kampung Anak Kurau.

On the seventh day, he cycled from Anak Kurau to Semanggol, Bagan Serai, Parit Buntar, and then into Pulau Pinang. His journey continued to other northern states for a few days before returning to Perak yesterday. He continued his ride through Gerik, Tasik Banding, Royal Belom, Titiwangsa Peak, and crossed the Perak border to continue his journey to Kelantan.

Throughout this expedition, he does not stay in hotels, but instead spends the night at various mosques to rest before continuing his ride to the next destination. This expedition serves as preparation for his Solo Peninsular Malaysia Cycling and Climbing Expedition scheduled for June 2017. This expedition also aims to raise public awareness about getting closer to mosques while engaging in extreme sports. We at orangperak.com hope he completes his journey safely in mid-May and that more Perak youth will follow in his footsteps.
