The Origin and History of the Name Teluk Batik

23 Apr 2019 · 1 min read · 60 ·By Freddie Aziz Jasbindar
Teluk Batik is said to have originated with the arrival of the Batak people from the Sumatra Islands in Indonesia. The story begins in the old days when pirates and robbers used the waters of the Straits of Malacca to plunder and seize all trade goods and belongings from those using the route.

Teluk Batik was originally known as Teluk Batak in its early days. However, on April 26, 1974, the name Teluk Batak was changed to Teluk Batik.

The beach, located approximately 6.5 kilometers from Lumut town, is an ideal tourist and picnic destination to visit as it possesses the special facilities required for an attractive tourist spot. Its long beach, set against a backdrop of tropical rainforest, captivates anyone who sees it. Various facilities are provided here, such as chalets, food stalls, toilets, changing rooms, parking lots, and a children's playground. The beach area is surrounded by the beauty of lush tropical rainforest on the surrounding hills. The estimated area of Teluk Batik is approximately 60 acres, while its coastline is 1 km long.

The story begins in the old days when pirates and robbers used the waters of the Straits of Malacca to plunder and seize all trade goods and belongings from those using the route. The Batak people were no exception. They used the location of Teluk Batik as a shelter from the threats of these pirates and robbers.

From there, the Batak settlement began, and the place was called Teluk Batak. As is known, the name Teluk Batak remained until April 26, 1974. After that, because the name Teluk Batak was not considered pleasant or sweet to the ear, it was changed to Teluk Batik. The name Teluk Batik has remained to this day.
