The History of the Name Change from Kinta Selatan District Council to Kampar District Council
The History of the Name Change from Kinta Selatan District Council to Kampar District Council
On February 25, 2009, an important chapter in the history of local administration in Perak was created with the official announcement via Perak State Government Gazette No. 403. On that date, the name Kinta Selatan District Council was officially changed to Kampar District Council. This change was not merely a change of name, but it marked the beginning of a new era for the district, in line with the establishment of the Kampar district as a new administrative entity.
The formation of the Kampar district was the result of the separation of two sub-districts, namely Gopeng and Kampar, from the existing Kinta district. The official declaration process for the Kampar district was completed through announcements in Perak State Government Gazette No. 586, No. 587, and No. 588 on April 23, 2009. This declaration marked the official recognition of Kampar as a standalone district, with its own unique identity and administration.
Previously, the Kampar District Council was known as the Town Board, which was a merger of three local councils: Gopeng, Jeram, and Malim Nawar. This change not only reflected rapid development in terms of population and economy in the area but also marked a step forward in ensuring more efficient and people-centric administration.
With the establishment of the Kampar District Council, local residents can look forward to a new era full of progress and development, while maintaining the heritage and unique identity that has long been their pride.
