The First Rapid Kamunting Bus in Perak

Rapid bus services are now available in Perak. Residents of Taiping were the first to use the Rapid Kamunting bus service under Syarikat Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT). This bus service was launched in March 2016 and has since attracted 24,000 users.

Residents of Taiping were the first to use the Rapid Kamunting bus service under Syarikat Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT). This bus service was launched in March 2016 and has since attracted 24,000 users.

There are currently two routes: the Taiping Route and the Heritage Trail Route. The Taiping Route covers Taiping town, while the Heritage Trail Route covers several historical and tourist sites around Taiping.

The service operates from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM, with ticket prices ranging from RM1 to RM2.50, and a 50 percent discount for senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities (OKU).

A new route will be operational soon. This route covers 18 stops per trip, spanning 19km across Taiping and Kamunting. The bus service will be expanded to other districts in Perak if the initial trial system in Taiping proves satisfactory, said the Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, during the Menteri Besar's retreat program in November 2016.

New route

Update: The new route as shown in the diagram above will begin on April 1, 2017. Latest: Rapid Kamunting in Perak ceased its operations on June 15, 2021, after operating for more than five years.
