Sultan Salehuddin (9th Sultan of Perak)
In 1630, Raja Kobat, who was the son of the late Sultan Mahmud Shah (8th Sultan of Perak), was installed as the 9th Sultan of Perak.
Raja Kobat was installed as the 9th Sultan of Perak with the title Sultan Salehuddin following the passing of the previous Sultan of Perak, the late Sultan Mahmud Shah I (8th Sultan of Perak). During his reign as the 9th Sultan of Perak, it is said that the entire state of Perak was struck by a devastating cholera epidemic. The outbreak caused many people in Perak to lose their lives. His Majesty is said to have sailed to Kampar, located in Sumatra, and passed away there in 1635. The late Sultan Salehuddin is referred to as Marhum Mangkat Di Kampar (The Late Sultan Who Passed Away in Kampar). According to the document 'History of the Kampar Community in the Peninsula and their contribution to the development of Malaysia' published by the Kampar Putra Malaysia Association (IKMAL), the relationship between the state of Perak and Kampar began during the reign of the first Sultan of Perak and continued until the reign of Sultan Salehuddin.
People from Kampar also migrated to Perak, and it is recorded that they settled in areas such as Dinding (Manjung) and Beruas. Due to a lack of documentation and references, not much further information is available regarding the story of Sultan Salehuddin. The exact location of Sultan Salehuddin's (9th Sultan of Perak) tomb in Kampar is also unknown. References:
