In a serene atmosphere at the Casuarina Convention Centre, the Perak state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration witnessed a touching moment when Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah appeared visibly moved at the end of his address. With a trembling voice, he offered prayers that all Malaysians would continue to live in a spirit of unity and mutual respect for one another.

His Royal Highness expressed his hope that the spirit of togetherness would remain the pillar of a multi-racial and multi-religious society. The address was not merely symbolic, but reflected the concern of a monarch who deeply desires harmony in his beloved homeland. The reaction of the attendees also showed their solemnity and appreciation for the message delivered.

This moment became one of the key highlights of the 1447H Maulidur Rasul celebration in Perak this year. It proves that unity should not just be talked about, but must be collectively embraced for the sake of the nation's stability and future.

Islamic Brotherhood as the Foundation of Unity

Sultan Nazrin emphasized that Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiah) is not just a concept, but an essential foundation in uniting the ummah and society. According to His Royal Highness, the spirit of Islamic fraternity must be preserved and strengthened among Malaysians, not only in the context of religion but also in the life of a pluralistic society.

He called on the people to strengthen the values of love, tolerance, and mutual respect. Strong brotherhood can curb elements of division that may arise due to incitement or differences in opinion. He reminded everyone that national progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and unity.

Through the appreciation of these values, the people can not only strengthen relationships among Muslims but also bridge connections with other races. This principle is in line with Islamic teachings that emphasize justice, compromise, and peace in building a harmonious society.

The Dangers of Extremism and the Spread of Hatred

In his address, Sultan Nazrin also expressed concern over the threat of extremism spreading through various channels, especially social media. He warned that the spread of hatred, slander, and insults could fracture national unity and tarnish the harmony that has been built over so long.

According to His Royal Highness, excessiveness in expressing opinions and the abuse of freedom of speech can trigger unwanted conflicts. This irresponsible attitude not only affects the country's image but can also spark violence or tension between communities.

Sultan Nazrin urged the people to always be vigilant against the culture of hatred that is increasingly prevalent in the digital space. He advised that all forms of communication should be conducted with manners, wisdom, and guided by high religious and moral values.

Upholding the Values of Moderation and Tolerance

Sultan Nazrin also emphasized the importance of the approach of moderation or wasatiyyah in daily life. According to His Royal Highness, only through this approach can society live in harmony and mutual understanding despite differences in religious, cultural, and political backgrounds.

The value of tolerance does not mean abandoning principles, but rather showing openness in understanding the perspectives of others. He reminded that Islam itself encourages its followers to be fair and do good to all human beings, regardless of race or religion.

He believes that Malaysian society has great potential to be an example of a nation that upholds the values of moderation and tolerance. However, this effort requires a collective commitment from all parties, including leaders, institutions, and ordinary citizens.

Maulidur Rasul 2025: Carrying the Theme of Unity and Harmony

This year's Maulidur Rasul celebration was themed “Islamic Brotherhood as the Foundation of Unity”, a theme very relevant to the country's current challenges. This event served as a platform to commemorate the struggle of Prophet Muhammad SAW in uniting the ummah and building a society with character and integrity.

Sultan Nazrin also presented various awards to individuals and institutions that demonstrated excellence in religious, family, and community leadership fields. This recognition encourages the people to continue serving society and upholding Islamic values.

Through this event, the spirit of Maulidur Rasul is elevated not just to commemorate history, but to be translated into actions capable of building a united, moral, and progressive Malaysian society.
