16 Aug 2017 · 3 min read · 2 ·By Freddie Aziz Jasbindar
The reunion of the Perak State Veterans Association (PERBA) members in Pasir Salak serves as a first step toward breathing new life into a place that is increasingly being forgotten. During a press conference at Sayong Resort, Kuala Kangsar, on the morning of August 15, 2018, Ayahanda Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah expressed his concern regarding the younger generation's growing detachment from history.

Who would have thought that an article published by orangperak.com on August 14, 2017, regarding

the Pasir Salak Historical Complex, which is gradually losing its luster due to a decline in visitors,

would successfully capture the attention of Malaysia's famous 'Raja Report', none other than Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah, or more affectionately known as Ayah.

Coincidentally, through the concern of this individual and the great organization led by Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah, they unanimously chose Pasir Salak as the location for the Perak State Veterans Association (PERBA) reunion. A million thanks go to Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah, the Veterans Association (PERBA), and all those involved for choosing Pasir Salak as their meeting point. The reunion of the Perak State Veterans Association (PERBA) members in Pasir Salak serves as a first step toward breathing new life into a place that is increasingly being forgotten. Ayahanda Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah expressed his concern regarding the younger generation's growing detachment from history during a press conference at Sayong Resort, Kuala Kangsar, on the morning of August 15, 2017.

"Pasir Salak is a historical site, but why are the youth today unaware of its significance? We do not want this to be lost to time. Pasir Salak was the site of the Malay uprising against colonialists in the past. Come to Pasir Salak!", said Ayahanda Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah.

Ayahanda Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah also issued a general reprimand to all parties lacking awareness and patriotic spirit. The spirit of independence among today's youth is fading, and many are no longer interested in celebrating Merdeka. This is evident from the lack of Jalur Gemilang flags displayed on homes, vehicles, and other areas.

"Where has the spirit of independence gone? We must cultivate and instill a patriotic spirit in our youth. Please put politics aside!", urged Ayahanda Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah.

The Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) award ceremony is intended to serve as a reunion program for association members in Pasir Salak. The medals will be presented to 60 recipients, specifically former members of the 13th Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) in Perak who are eligible and served in the military between 1970 and 1989.

Beyond strengthening ties between association members and the public, this program aims to bring together veterans who fought until the communist terrorists laid down their arms in 1989. Furthermore, Ayahanda Abdul Rani Bin Kulup Abdullah wishes to promote Pasir Salak to the younger generation so they may realize and understand what transpired there during the colonial era. Choosing Pasir Salak as the location is a fitting tribute to these heroes who defended the nation's peace against communist threats, as Pasir Salak is rich in the history of Malay warriors who resisted British colonialists. Pasir Salak holds a powerful story that will never be forgotten. All members of the Perak State 13th Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) Veterans Association (PERBA) and the public are invited to attend the event at Pasir Salak Eco Resort on September 15 and 16, 2017. There will be special performances for all attendees.

  • Location: Pasir Salak Eco Resort
  • Date: September 15, 2017 to September 16, 2017
