Perak to Decide on Vape Sales Ban After State Government Meeting This May 28
Any decision regarding the ban on the sale of electronic cigarettes or vapes in Perak will be finalized after being discussed in the State Executive Council (MMK) meeting on May 28, said Menteri Besar Dato Seri Saarani Mohamad.
According to him, a comprehensive study by the State Health Exco together with stakeholders will serve as the basis for consideration. The state government will also take into account the views of various parties, including traders, parents, educators, and the Mufti Department before any policy is formulated.
“If the decision shows that the ban is better and beneficial to the people, then we will choose the best path,” emphasized Saarani after officiating the Lenggong Valley Motorclub at Dataran Tasik Raban today.
He stressed that the final decision will not be made unilaterally, but rather through collective discussion within the MMK to ensure all aspects are evaluated thoroughly.
Previously, Perlis and Terengganu have implemented bans on vape sales, while several other states are still in the process of examining similar measures. Perak's upcoming decision is expected to be a benchmark in addressing the issue of vape usage at the state level.
