Perak Sejahtera Card Eases the Burden of the B40 Group
Most recipients of the Perak Sejahtera Card acknowledge that the state government's initiative has greatly eased their living burdens, especially for heads of households (KIR) who are hardcore poor, poor, and in the B40 category.
For Fatimah Ali, 56, from Kampar, the RM100 monthly assistance is almost equivalent to her monthly income as a rubber tapper, which only reaches RM140.
“Alhamdulillah, I live in an ancestral home with my 81-year-old mother, so I don't have to worry about rent. However, I have to take care of my bedridden mother who requires adult diapers,” she said when met by Kosmo! at her residence recently.
Adding to the burden, Fatimah is also responsible for caring for her 22-year-old child who faces mental health issues.
“With the Perak Sejahtera Card, I can buy adult diapers and basic necessities such as rice, eggs, and sugar. This assistance is very meaningful because it is provided every month,” she said gratefully.
She was also touched by the commitment of the Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, who frequently goes to the ground to ensure the welfare of the people is taken care of.
A Lifeline of Assistance
Meanwhile, Rokiah Ahmad, 59, from Gopeng considers the Perak Sejahtera Card a “lifesaver” since she has been unable to work due to health problems.
“I live in an ancestral home with two older brothers, an older sister, and two grand-nieces/nephews. They are the ones working to support the family. With this card, I can buy adult diapers and personal necessities without burdening my family members,” she said.
State Government's Commitment to Eradicating Hardcore Poverty
On February 22, Saarani announced that 19,012 heads of households (KIR) had received the benefits of the Perak Sejahtera Card worth RM100 per month as of February 2025.
This assistance can be used at 291 registered panel shops and supermarkets throughout Perak, with a total value of RM1,200 per year.
This is in line with Flagship 6: Eradicating Hardcore Poverty 2025 under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan, which serves as proof of the state government's commitment to ensuring the well-being of the people.
With this assistance, those in need can breathe a sigh of relief, thereby reducing the pressure of life amidst the rising cost of living.
