Perak Government Allocates RM20 Million Annually to Manage 5 State Tahfiz Schools

The Perak State Government allocates approximately RM20 million each year for the management of five Sekolah Menengah Tahfiz Darul Ridzuan (SMTDR).

Menteri Besar, Dato Seri Saarani Mohamad, stated that the allocation covers teacher emoluments, training programs, student meals, and school maintenance.

The five SMTDR involved are located in Pulau Pangkor (Manjung), Semanggol (Kerian), Lenggong (Hulu Perak), Sungai Lesung (Batang Padang), and Ipoh (Kinta).

“The 2025 Perak State Budget also allocates nearly RM112 million to the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) for the management of Islamic institutions, religious schools, as well as the maintenance and upgrading of infrastructure for mosques, suraus, and schools,” he explained.

“In addition, RM15 million has been channeled for the repair and construction of new mosques and suraus, while RM5 million is allocated for the empowerment of Islamic educational institutions,” he added.

His speech was delivered by the State Committee Chairman for Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports, Khairudin Abu Hanipah, in conjunction with the closing of the 11th National-Level Majlis Ihtifal Ilmi Sekolah-Sekolah Menengah Agama Malaysia (MIISMAM) 2025 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Ministry of Health Training Institute, Ulu Kinta today.

Also present was the Director of JAIPk, Harith Fadzilah Abdul Halim.

MIISMAM is an annual program organized by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) together with state religious authorities to unearth student talent through various competitions such as Quran recitation, memorization (hafazan), Malay and English public speaking, khat (calligraphy), nasyid, and kalam jamai’e.

This year, Selangor was crowned the overall champion of MIISMAM.
