No Second Chances for Perak and Kedah Teams
Kedah Darul Aman FC and Perak FC have been officially removed from next season's Super League competition, with no opportunity to return even if they manage to settle salary arrears and resolve the teams' financial issues.
This final decision was made by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) following both teams' failure to meet the stipulated licensing requirements.
According to MFL Board Member, Datuk Mohd Hisamudin Yahaya, the team replacement process has been carried out, with Imigresen FC and Melaka FC ready to take over the Super League slots.
"Both teams (Kedah and Perak) failed to comply with the license requirements. The Super League already has replacements, and there is no room for re-application because the licensing period has ended," he asserted.
"This is a normal process. If they fail, they must re-evaluate the club's performance. As for the possibility of joining the M1 League, a decision will be made later," he added.
Failed to Meet Financial Criteria
The official MFL announcement last Thursday shocked supporters of both traditional teams, after the independent First Instance Body (FIB) confirmed their removal for failing to meet the financial criteria in the MFL Club Licensing Regulations (MFL CLR) 2024-2025 Edition.
To qualify for a license, every club must pass six main criteria: Sporting, Infrastructure, Personnel & Administration, Legal, Financial, and Business. Failure to meet any aspect, especially financial, was the main cause of this removal.
What's Next?
With this decision, Kedah and Perak must now plan new strategies, whether to compete in a new league or undergo internal structural reforms.
"This is a lesson for all clubs to be more meticulous in financial management," emphasized an MFL official.
Attention now shifts to Imigresen FC and Melaka FC, who will take up the challenge in the Super League next season.
