MBI Denies Allegations of Stray Dogs Being Buried Alive

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has denied allegations that stray dogs were buried alive at a wild animal containment facility in Lahat, following the circulation of videos on social media making such claims.

According to MBI, the burial of the animals is part of the stray dog management procedure and is carried out in accordance with guidelines set by the authorities, reported Bernama.

“The animals involved underwent a humane ‘put-to-sleep’ process, based on the relevant legal framework and procedures,” MBI clarified.

MBI emphasized that the euthanasia process is carried out by the Perak Department of Veterinary Services, while the burial is only conducted after the animals have been confirmed dead.

According to the local authority, the burial is necessary to ensure that carcass disposal is carried out properly and complies with public health standards.

“MBI remains committed to the ethical and responsible management of stray dogs, in line with procedures established by the relevant agencies,” it added.

Two days ago, two short video clips lasting 15 and 13 seconds went viral on Facebook, showing dozens of stray dogs in cages on an MBI truck.
