Masjid Jamek Ar-Ridzuan Hands Over Waqf Land Purchase to MAIPk
The management of Masjid Jamek Ar-Ridzuan, Alor Pongsu, has chosen a wise approach by fully handing over the waqf land purchase to the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) to ensure the redemption process is carried out legally and systematically.
The mosque chairman, Yusuf Majid, stated that they would submit an official letter to MAIPk in the near future to request a full takeover of the purchase process, including legal negotiations.
“We want to ensure that all processes run smoothly, in accordance with the procedures set by the state's Islamic institution,” he told Sinar Harian on Friday.
According to Yusuf, initial discussions with MAIPk indicate that the land acquisition process can be carried out as soon as possible, depending on the resolution of technical and legal matters.
Donations Exceed Target
News regarding this mosque has garnered attention from many Muslims in Malaysia, leading to numerous fundraising campaigns to save the mosque. According to a report from the Perak Islamic Religious Council (MAIPk) yesterday, donations collected through the official mosque account have reached RM2.1 million, exceeding the original asking price of the land, which was RM1.8 million.
“All payment and distribution matters will follow MAIPk regulations. Previously, we did not pay any deposit, relying only on a verbal agreement with the landowner,” Yusuf explained.
He also informed that the mosque has conveyed their intentions to the non-Muslim landowner who owns the lot adjacent to the mosque and the cemetery to facilitate the redemption of ownership to MAIPk.
This step is expected to ensure that the waqf land remains the property of the Islamic institution, providing long-term benefits to the local community.
He also hopes that all Muslims in Malaysia, especially the residents of Alor Pongsu, will continue to pray that all matters regarding the purchase of the waqf land are facilitated by ALLAH SWT, ensuring that the land used for Islamic worship returns to its rightful owners.
