Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan, The Pride of Muslims in Perak

Amidst the rapid development of Ipoh city, stands a magnificent complex that serves as a symbol of pride for Muslims in Perak - Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan. The building, which was inaugurated with full ceremony by DYMM Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah on April 4, 1987, has gone through a long and meaningful journey, evolving from a mere religious administrative center into a multi-functional institution that touches various aspects of community life.

The journey of this complex over more than three decades is a story of remarkable transformation. Initially, it was just an ordinary administrative building housing the offices of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council. However, with visionary leadership, the complex gradually developed into a complete and dynamic center for Muslim activities.

One of the most proud aspects of the complex's development is its ability to adapt to changing times without sacrificing core Islamic values. In the 1980s, when it was first built, its functions were more focused on traditional religious administrative matters such as zakat management, marriage, and Sharia affairs. Today, however, we can see how the complex has successfully integrated modern technology into its daily operations.

Educational activities at the complex have also undergone an interesting evolution. While it previously only offered basic religious classes, various contemporary programs have now been added to meet the needs of modern society. Classes such as Islamic finance, parenting according to the Sunnah, and even career guidance for Muslim professionals are among the most popular programs. More impressively, most of these programs are conducted by young, highly qualified instructors who understand current realities.

The Islamic economy section of the complex has also shown encouraging growth. Retail spaces that originally only housed a few Islamic bookstores and Muslimah clothing shops have developed into a dynamic Islamic business hub. Young entrepreneurs can now obtain business advice, skills training, and even financing assistance to start their halal businesses.

The late Sultan Azlan Shah, during the inauguration of this building, emphasized that all parties were prohibited from using this complex and mosques in the state as arenas to seek influence, as it could create negative perceptions that might threaten community harmony. He also expressed confidence that the rental income from the complex would help the Perak Islamic Religious Council in carrying out its programs and activities.

The contribution of this complex to the development of the Muslim community in Perak is undeniable. Thousands of Muslims have benefited from the various programs conducted. From young children learning to recite the Quran to professionals wanting to deepen their knowledge of contemporary Fiqh, everyone feels the presence of this complex as a gift to the state of Perak.

However, the success of this complex did not come easily. Various challenges had to be faced, especially in balancing the demands of progress with the preservation of traditional values. Financial constraints, infrastructure maintenance, and the provision of relevant programs are always the focus of management.

Stepping into this complex today, one can feel a unique atmosphere - a blend of the sanctity of a religious institution and the dynamism of a community activity center. Its sturdy walls seem to tell the story of a long and meaningful journey. Every corner and space holds memories of the development of Muslims in Perak over more than three decades.

After 37 years of operation, Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan continues to be a symbol of excellence in Islamic administration in Perak. It proves that religious institutions can be financially independent without sacrificing spiritual values. The mandate of Sultan Azlan Shah for the complex to remain free from politics remains relevant, especially in today's era of social polarization.

Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan is not just a building, but has become part of the identity of the Muslim community in Perak. Its existence remains clear evidence of the ability of Muslims to progress and develop without sacrificing core religious values. It is a precious legacy that must be preserved and developed for future generations.
