19 Jun 2019 · 3 min read · 120 ·By Freddie Aziz Jasbindar
The Kampar River Festival is said to be the largest and first tourism festival in Malaysia, which will be held at the Kampar River.

The Kampar River Festival will be held from July 5 to July 7, 2019, and is perfect for providing an overview of the Kampar River, which is highly suitable for extreme water sports.

The Kampar area is a strategic location, only a 2-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur and Penang, and a 1-hour drive from Cameron Highlands. This location was chosen for the festival because it is easily accessible and located near the train station, as well as close to the Tapah or Gopeng highway exits for those heading to Kampar. Near the Kampar area, the Gopeng area is also a great tourist destination to visit as a side trip when you arrive in Kampar. Returning to the Kampar River Festival, the Perak state government, together with Radak Adventure, has organized a WhiteWater Festival.

Kampar River Festival 2019: The First and Largest in Malaysia

The Kampar River Festival is said to be the largest and first tourism festival in Malaysia, which will be held at the Kampar River from July 5 to July 7, 2019. The festival will take place for three consecutive days as scheduled and will involve the public from all over the world to celebrate and experience the excitement of the Kampar River. Mohd Hasrol Kamis @ Mahmad, the Event Director for the Kampar River Festival, stated that the festival's participation is focused on raising public awareness about river conservation. "For this edition, we are trying to combine the uniqueness of the Kampar District while being located in the Gopeng area. Throughout the three-day program, there will also be activities to promote national heritage, as the area is one of the sites gazetted as a national heritage," said Mohd Hasrol Kamis @ Mahmad. Howard Lee Chuan How, the Perak State Executive Council Member for Youth, Sports, and Human Capital Development, also stated that high-level discussions have been held following the disappearance of Muhammad Ashraf Hassan in the area. "We have discussed that officers will be stationed along the race river route. Not only in terms of safety, but a safety system and a buddy system will also be established, where every athlete and officer is required to have two buddies in case of any untoward incidents, involving the APM, Rela, PDRM, the community, and activists. Each section will also be equipped with cameras to record every action so that there will be no cases of disappearance, and if anyone is injured, treatment will be provided as quickly as possible with the help of relevant agencies," said Howard Lee Chuan How. Howard Lee Chuan How added that the Perak state government's major direction is to elevate the sports economy development agenda, which will be highlighted through this Kampar River Festival. It is believed that the Kampar River Festival can develop sports while simultaneously developing the economy, and indirectly, it can raise awareness about nature conservation. Meanwhile, a River Conservation program will also be held with the aim of creating awareness among the public so that cases like the pollution in Pasir Gudang will not happen again. The Kampar River Festival is expected to position the Kampar area as a major water sports event hub, which has now become one of the efforts by local tourism operators in the Gopeng area. Among the activities to be carried out during this Kampar River Festival are a rafters' gathering, river conservation, tubing races, heritage and culture displays, and a geopark conference. In this Kampar River Festival, the Perak state government estimates the participation of at least 2,000 visitors, including officers, athletes, visitors, and staff.
