Ipoh Sentral to Become New Landmark, Reflecting Visionary Progress – PM Anwar

The development of Ipoh Sentral is expected to become a new iconic landmark in the heart of Ipoh city, reflecting progress centered on long-term vision, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In his speech at the Ipoh Sentral Development Groundbreaking Ceremony on Saturday afternoon, Anwar emphasized that this large-scale project is being developed entirely through private initiatives resulting from a strategic collaboration between Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) and the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC), with a total gross development value (GDV) reaching RM6.25 billion.

He also expressed his hope that Ipoh Sentral would become a prime example of development based on Madani values.

Development with Dignity and Cultural Soul

“We no longer want grand physical developments that are devoid of cultural soul. Instead, every development must carry a human spirit that upholds the principles of compassion, respect, sustainability, and national dignity,” Anwar asserted in his Facebook post tonight.

To realize this aspiration, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for synergy and close cooperation between developers, local authorities, and relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, and other relevant agencies.

Transforming Ipoh into a Smart & Inclusive City

The Ipoh Sentral project, based on the Perak Smart City Green Transport Agenda 2030, is designed to transform Ipoh into a modern, sustainable, and well-connected transport hub. Furthermore, it aims to preserve the city's cultural heritage and strengthen community bonds.

Anwar hopes that the development will not only open doors to new opportunities but also instill confidence in the citizens and strengthen Ipoh's identity as a vibrant, inclusive, and competitive city.

With the launch of this project, Ipoh is expected to step into a new phase of development that balances physical progress with human values.
