Evidence That the State of Reman Once Had a Presence in Gerik, Perak
The history of the Raja Reman administration as a sovereign Malay state, originally based in Kota Baru, Yala, which later expanded its territory to Kedah, Kroh (now known as Pengkalan Hulu), and Lenggong, Perak, since the late 1800s.
For the information of our loyal orangperak.com readers, the government of the state of Reman also dominated the area of
Kelian Intan
and operated tin mining in the area, which sparked several disputes with the Perak state government. You can refer to the article

Most of our society today has completely forgotten the existence of a sovereign Malay state, the state of Reman, which was established over 100 years ago on the soil of Perak. Sadly, some do not acknowledge it and claim that it is merely a myth.
An acquaintance of the orangperak.com editor named Shah Sunan Al-Bugis is very fond of searching for hidden treasures in the wilderness of our country. In August 2017, he went to see a boundary marker stone that indicates the border between the state of Reman and the state of Perak.
The location of the boundary marker stone between the state of Reman and the state of Perak, as shown in this picture, is situated in a hilly area within the Belum forest, Gerik. The Rumi script on the top and Jawi script on the bottom on the side of the marker stone clearly show the words 'Perak' and 'Raman'.
Interestingly, the area around the stone is not overgrown and remains clean, even though it is very rare for humans to visit or pass through the area. Weather and forest landscape are likely factors as to why the area is always clean, in addition to claims that there are "guardians" placed in the border area.
In 1902, the Siamese government abolished the monarchical system under the rule of the Raja Reman and handed over the Hulu Perak district to the Perak government, which took place in Kroh (now Pengkalan Hulu) on July 16, 1909. You can refer to the article titled
