Defensive Bunker Under the Sultan Iskandar Bridge
Many are unaware of the existence of war bunker remains under the Sultan Iskandar Bridge located in Kampung Jamuan, Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
The bunker is believed to be a relic from the Japanese occupation of Malaya. However, its authenticity cannot be confirmed as there is no further information available to share with you.
According to Mr. Syam, a Perak history enthusiast, he personally visited the bunker site under the Sultan Iskandar Bridge and witnessed the defensive structure himself. He then obtained information from Mr. Jasni Alias, who was also at the location. According to Mr. Jasni Alias, not much information is available because it has been abandoned and is not maintained by any relevant parties or departments.
If you wish to find this bunker, it is located right next to the Jamek Mosque of Kampung Jamuan. We believe these remains are a defensive bunker because its position seems to guard the main entry point from the Perak River to the land area. There are also several angles and firing ports facing the Perak River. Below are the photos taken by Mr. Syam himself to share with all of you.
The condition of this unguarded bunker is full of vandalism. It has been used as a temporary storage area for contractors repairing and maintaining the underside of the bridge. Historical remains like this should be preserved as a reminder of past events for the future. If you are interested in visiting the site, please use the GPS coordinates 4.819211, 100.962405.
