Bomb Scare at Bota Kiri Traffic Light Junction
Local residents in the Bota area near Restoran Wan Lebor, who were excited to watch the Le Tour de Langkawi cyclists at the Bota Kiri traffic light, were suddenly shocked by a bomb threat when a man stopped his car in the middle of the road and shouted that there was a bomb inside his vehicle.
The man, aged approximately 30, suddenly stopped his car in the middle of the Bota Kiri traffic light junction at about 11 am today, ran out of his vehicle, and shouted at the spectators to run for their lives because there was a bomb in his car.
The incident occurred just as the Le Tour de Langkawi race participants from Seri Manjung had passed through the route heading towards Cameron Highlands. Perak Tengah District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, stated that after announcing the bomb in his car, the man tried to flee but was successfully apprehended. He added that the man is being detained for investigation to determine the motive behind his claims.
It is understood that the Mercedes car, believed to have been driven behind the group of Le Tour De Langkawi (LTDL) cyclists who were in the fourth stage of the race, was abandoned by its driver at the junction before he fled in another car, a Proton Wira, believed to be driven by his accomplice.
