It is said that a mass killing of Malay people by the Japanese army took place there a long time ago. To this day, bullet marks can still be seen on the trunks of logs that witnessed the dark events of that time. Currently, the area is gazetted as the Perak Tengah forest reserve, and parts of it have had their status changed from forest reserve to oil palm plantations. Perhaps due to these dark events, many cases of supernatural disturbances are frequently reported by locals who pass through the area late at night. Along the approximately 20-kilometer stretch, mobile network coverage for all telcos is very limited. There are no streetlights because there is no electricity in the area, leaving it pitch black and surrounded only by wilderness and oil palm plantations. These factors have led some to take advantage by robbing road users, pretending to have had an accident and then robbing victims when they stop to help. The area is also full of animals such as wild boars, jungle cats, civets, buffaloes, and others that suddenly cross the road. Be careful if you are driving fast, as these animals crossing suddenly can cause road accidents. The road is very quiet, and it is rare to see other vehicles passing through the area late at night, likely because many are already aware of the road's condition.
