The President of the Malaysian Islamic Indigenous Preachers Association, 44-year-old Wan Masindra Juja, has been recognized as the Preacher of the Year through the Ibnu Abbas Award. This award was presented during the Perak state-level Maulidur Rasul 1447H/2025M celebration by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

Previously, Wan Masindra was named the National Convert Figure in 2023, proving his commitment and significant influence in preaching to the indigenous community.

He currently serves as the Perak State Islamic Missionary Supervisor and continues to be active in preaching to the Orang Asli community throughout the state.

Awards and Recognition

The Ibnu Abbas Award comes with a cash prize of RM5,000 and a commemorative plaque, symbolizing a major achievement in the field of dakwah.

The award was presented directly by Sultan Nazrin in a formal ceremony at Dewan Jubli Perak, Ipoh.

The Maulidur Rasul celebration is one of the key events in promoting Islamic values within society. Recognizing figures like Wan Masindra serves as a symbol of the growing spirit of dakwah.

This award also inspires young preachers and the general public to be more aware of the role of religion in shaping character.

The ceremony also celebrated contributions from various parties, including imams, bilals, siaks, NGOs, and exemplary families who play vital roles in community development.

Other Award Recipients

Sultan Nazrin also presented the Imam Award to Rosli Mat, the Manager of KPFMB Perak, while the Bilal Award was given to Sirat Abdullah and the Siak Award to Mat Yusoff Suliman.

An award for NGOs was presented to the Perak branch of ABIM in appreciation of their role in community activities and spiritual development.

In the exemplary family category, single mother Umi Kalsom Bahak received the Ammar Bin Yasir Family Award. She also received RM10,000 in cash, an umrah package worth RM9,000, and a plaque.

Impact on Society and the Orang Asli Community

The recognition of Wan Masindra Juja has a significant impact on the Orang Asli community and the Muslim community at large. It serves as proof that efforts to spread the message of Islam receive attention and support from the state government.

Furthermore, it builds confidence among converts and other preachers to continue contributing to the cultivation of Islamic values in a diverse society.
