04 Mar 2021 · 2 min read · 171 ·By Mohamed Faizal Zainol

Toh Puan Intan binti Toh Senongsa Seri Nara Wangsa Toh Nyior Manis was the first holder of the Toh Puan title among the wives of Perak Malay Chiefs, bestowed by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan. She is believed to have held this title in 1670 through her marriage to the first Panglima Kinta Seri Amar Bangsa DiRaja (SABD), Toh Tambak bin Maharaja Kinta Toh Chendang (1670 - 1710). Panglima Kinta SABD Toh Tambak was the great-grandson of the second Sultan of Perak, Sultan Mansur I ibni the first Sultan of Perak, Sultan Muzaffar Shah I.

This marriage is believed to be a symbol of the union between two major ruling families in the Kinta District or 'Negeri Kinta', namely the family of Maharaja Kinta Toh Chendang bin Kulop Kinta Toh Changkat Piatu (who ruled around Batu Gajah, Kinta) and Toh Senongsa Seri Nara Wangsa IV Toh Nyior Manis bin Toh Senongsa Seri Nara Wangsa III Toh Tempoyak (who ruled around Ulu Kinta, Kinta, based in Kampung Kepayang, Fair Park, Ipoh). Toh Puan Intan was the great-great-granddaughter of Tun Kelalang bin Tun Saban, the first Malay ruler of the Kinta District or 'Negeri Kinta' starting in 1528.

Toh Puan Intan was the second wife of Panglima Kinta SABD Toh Tambak. This marriage established a rotation system between the two families of the Panglima Kinta SABD, namely between Pasak Paloh (through the first wife of Panglima Kinta SABD Toh Tambak) and Pasak Kepayang (through the second wife of Panglima Kinta SABD Toh Tambak, Toh Puan Intan), where her son, Toh Changkat Rembiah, was appointed as the 3rd Panglima Kinta SABD representing Pasak Kepayang following the passing of his elder half-brother, Toh Changkat Sega (the 2nd Panglima Kinta SABD), who represented Pasak Paloh.

She is believed to have passed away in the early 17th century and was buried in the vicinity of the Muslim cemetery at Masjid Warisan, Masjid Al-Khairiah, Kampung Kepayang, Fair Park, Ipoh, near the tomb of her husband (the first Panglima Kinta SABD, Toh Tambak), the tomb of her son (the 3rd Panglima Kinta SABD, Toh Changkat Rembiah), and the tomb of her great-grandson (the 7th Panglima Kinta SABD, Toh Ngah Jabor or Toh Gemok), although the exact location of her tomb cannot be confirmed.
