Special Malindo Apam Balik in Teluk Intan
Every place we visit has its own uniqueness or specialties that become symbols of the area. The town of Teluk Intan, being an old town, certainly has its own distinct charm, especially regarding the variety of food available here.
In this article, orangperak.com would like to share about the Malindo Apam Balik, which is highly popular among the residents of Teluk Intan. As an introduction for those unfamiliar with this traditional snack, Apam Balik is a traditional Malay treat, also known as Terang Bulan in Indonesia.
This dish is made using flour, baking powder, sugar, eggs, coconut milk, and water to create the batter. Once the batter is ready, it is poured into a special pan used for making apam balik and then topped with ingredients like sweet corn, sugar, and others, making this dish truly delicious. Regarding this Malindo Apam Balik, it is located behind the Shell petrol station and next to the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan. The owner, Mr. Ashaari, has been selling apam balik here since 1982, and despite the many others now selling various types of apam balik, he remains loyal to his spot.
He sells two types of apam balik: one that is thick and soft, and another that is thin and crispy. Although there are now versions with cheese, chocolate, vanilla, and more, Mr. Ashaari continues to sell his apam balik using the same recipe from 1982 without any changes to maintain its authenticity.
Because of this, those who grew up in Teluk Intan, even if they have moved elsewhere, will never forget the deliciousness of this Malindo Apam Balik. If you have the chance to visit the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan, don't forget to stop by and taste the deliciousness of Malindo Apam Balik for yourself.
