Abu Bakar bin Kasimi, a 3rd-year student at the Faculty of Usuluddin (Specializing in Aqidah and Philosophy) at Al-Azhar University, Egypt, has once again proven his excellence by maintaining a Mumtaz (excellent) grade for the third consecutive year. This success was announced following the release of the 2024/2025 academic session examination results by the university.
The son of a retired KAFA teacher who now serves as the Imam of Masjid Kampung Kuak Luar, Pengkalan Hulu, is a scholarship recipient from the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) under the Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
What is even more impressive is that Abu Bakar is the only Malaysian student listed among the top 10 students of the Faculty of Usuluddin, outperforming approximately 300 3rd-year students in the faculty.
“We hope the excellence shown can be continued in his final year of study for the 2025/2026 session, and in doing so, serve as a source of inspiration for other students, especially the children of Perak,” MAIPk expressed in an official statement.
MAIPk also extends its highest appreciation to the zakat payers of Perak Darul Ridzuan for their continuous support and commitment in assisting sponsored students like Abu Bakar and his peers in Egypt.
Abu Bakar's success not only makes his family and the state of Perak proud but also serves as proof that Malaysian students are capable of competing at the international level, particularly in the field of Islamic studies.
