Perak FC Salary Crisis: 48 Former Players & Coaches Demand Justice
The salary arrears crisis plaguing Perak FC has yet to reach a resolution, as 48 former players, coaches, and club staff continue to demand their outstanding dues. The demands involve salary payments and compensation estimated to be worth over RM2 million, which the management has allegedly failed to settle since September last year.
Frustration was evident in the tone of former Perak FC key player, Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor, who described the lack of positive progress from the management despite the long wait.
According to him, a meeting was arranged with management representatives at the Perak Labour Department (JTK), but it failed to produce any reassuring results.
"Today we met their representative (lawyer) at the Perak Labour Department (JTK), and following the discussion, he informed us that he needs to review our contracts before any decision can be made," he explained when met at the Perak Stadium grounds here on Monday.
"The lawyer also requested a postponement, scheduling further discussions for Oct 27 at the Perak JTK. We hope all matters can be expedited and resolved amicably," added Wan Zack Haikal.
Meanwhile, former assistant coach Shahrulnizam Mustapha emphasized that the offers previously made by the management were not at all commensurate with the sacrifices and full commitment given by the players and coaching staff.
"As coaches, we gave our full commitment, leading the team to the Malaysia Cup semi-finals and finishing seventh in the Super League last season. Yet, until now, we have not received what is rightfully ours," he expressed.
He also touched on the impact of this issue on their lives, noting that it affects the livelihoods of many.
"We have waited too long. This involves the livelihoods of many families. We hope Perak FC can come forward with a concrete solution at the next meeting," he said.
For now, Shahrulnizam said they will wait for feedback from the next discussion before deciding on any further action.
Recalling the situation, Perak FC Chairman Datuk Seri Azim Zabidi confirmed on April 27 that The Bos Gaurus squad had to withdraw from the 2025/2026 Malaysia League competition due to severe financial constraints.
The management was reportedly only able to offer payment of 20 percent of the total arrears, but that offer was unanimously rejected by the players and coaches.
