MPM Seizes Unauthorized Rental Activities at Teluk Senangin Beach

The Manjung Municipal Council (MPM), in collaboration with the Manjung District Police Headquarters, has launched an enforcement operation at Teluk Senangin Beach following public complaints regarding float chair rental activities being conducted without authorization.

Although float chair rental activities are permitted in the area, operators must comply with the prevailing MPM Licensing Conditions. Key requirements include storing equipment after the rental period ends and not placing equipment out before a rental is made. Additionally, operators are prohibited from collecting fees for the rental of other equipment or the use of sites unrelated to the activity.

According to MPM, 10 permits have been issued to operators who met the requirements to date. However, only three operators remain active, while the other seven have shown no activity.

Strict Action Against Illegal Operators
In the latest operation, authorities seized various items, including chairs, tables, tents, and floats used by operators without a license or valid authorization from the President of MPM. A total of six seizures were carried out along Teluk Senangin Beach, involving:

  • 220 chairs
  • 19 wooden tables
  • 1 iron table
  • 1 umbrella
  • 25 floats
  • 3 tents

This action was taken under Section 46(1)(d) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133), which prohibits any form of obstruction in public areas. All seized equipment has been taken to the MPM Temporary Storage Depot for further management in accordance with legal procedures.

MPM's Commitment to Ensuring Tourism Well-being
MPM reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the harmony of tourist areas by allowing only registered operators who comply with regulations to conduct business. Periodic enforcement operations will continue to monitor and take follow-up action against any violations.

Members of the public with information or complaints regarding illegal activities are encouraged to report them to MPM to ensure the beach area remains preserved and comfortable for all visitors.
