Masjid Taqwa Proton City, A Symbol of Architectural Beauty

Initially, Masjid Taqwa Proton City was just a small surau built as part of a social responsibility initiative by Proton City Development. The surau was built on a 0.96-acre plot of land, and its construction was fully completed in June 2006.

After a thorough evaluation process, the Tanjung Malim District Council granted a "certificate of fitness" (CF) in August 2009. However, with the growing population and the urgent need to perform Friday prayers, the chairman and the surau committee took the initiative to apply for the surau's status to be upgraded to a mosque.

Alhamdulillah, the application was approved thanks to the hard work, prayers, and hopes of the entire local community. Finally, on Friday, January 16, 2009, the surau was upgraded to Masjid al-Hidayah Proton City. This historic moment marked the first time local residents performed Friday prayers at this mosque.

On December 18, 2009, in conjunction with the Perak State-level Maal Hijrah celebration, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan graciously officiated the mosque and renamed it Masjid Taqwa. This inauguration not only marked a new beginning for the mosque but also became a symbol of unity and harmony for the local community.

Unique and Eco-Friendly Architectural Concept

Masjid Taqwa Proton City was built with an open-concept design that utilizes natural airflow, making it comfortable and cool without relying entirely on air conditioning systems. The intricate cloud-pattern carvings (awan larat) that adorn the mosque were inspired by the Imam Bukhari Mosque in Uzbekistan, a famous mosque that serves as a landmark of Islamic architecture.

Interestingly, the cloud-pattern carvings at Masjid Taqwa Proton City were produced by skilled craftsmen from Uzbekistan themselves, adding further aesthetic and authentic value to this mosque.

The dominant color of the mosque is an earthy tone, which not only provides a natural and harmonious effect but also symbolizes simplicity and closeness to nature. This color was carefully chosen to reflect the beauty of Allah's creation and to remind us of the origins of humanity, which was created from the earth.
