Is the Construction of Asia's First Animation Theme Park in Ipoh Stalled?

07 Feb 2017 · 2 min read · 10 ·By Freddie Aziz Jasbindar
Many members of the public who purchased tickets over a year ago have started complaining on the official Movie Animation Park Studios Facebook page. Some are furious, demanding the actual opening date, while others are requesting refunds, hurling insults, and more. It is undeniable that consumers may feel mistreated and deceived, as their tickets were purchased over a year ago, and their inquiries have yet to receive a satisfactory response.

Asia's first animation theme park, which was said to be opening in early 2016 in Ipoh, Perak, remains closed as of early February 2017. This is one of the upcoming new attractions located in Bandar Meru Raya, Ipoh, Perak. A large portion of this animation theme park, known as MAPS, is indoor and air-conditioned to protect visitors from Malaysia's hot, wet, and humid weather.

The park also features the tallest drop tower in Malaysia. It is said that there will be car stunt shows and much more, designed for the whole family and all ages. There are also various types of food and beverages themed after popular animated films, as well as shops throughout the 52-acre area. Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) features over 40 rides, including a DreamWorks Animation zone that houses popular animated characters such as Mr. Peabody and Sherman, The Croods, Megamind, and Casper the Friendly Ghost. In addition to characters from DreamWorks, it also features the local favorite animation, BoBoiBoy by MONSTA. MAPS is set to become an international-standard theme park and the third theme park in Malaysia to receive such recognition. There are over 40 attractions across 6 different themed zones. However, does the development of this theme park have internal issues that cannot be disclosed to the public, leading them to remain silent regarding the opening date?

no updates

There are no actual photos, only illustrations uploaded to their social media pages. Let's look at it positively; perhaps they do not want to reveal anything to the public before the official opening. Information on the official MAPS website has also not been updated since the last update on September 21, 2016. Therefore, there is no official information that the public can refer to regarding the actual opening date of this first animation theme park in Asia. Whatever the delays and problems faced, MAPS must issue an official statement and explain the reasons for the delay to the public who are waiting, especially to those who have purchased tickets over a year ago. Just as there was hype when this theme park was announced back in 2014, the reasons for the delay should be made public with the same level of transparency. Regardless, many are eagerly awaiting the opening of this first animation theme park in Asia. update :
