Get to Know the Ruler of Mukim Lambor Before British Colonization

In reality, British intervention in Malaya began as early as August 11, 1786, when Francis Light occupied Penang. On February 16, 1819, Stamford Raffles successfully occupied Singapore through an agreement between Tengku Long and Temenggung Abd Rahman. The Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 originally paved the way for the British to control Malaya.

For those loyal readers of orangperak.com, especially those from Lambor, you should know that Toh Maharaja Dewa Panjang Ogek bin Uda Katab was the 3rd Perak state dignitary, one of the 'Orang Besar 16' who ruled the Lambor sub-district before the arrival of British colonizers in the area.

Toh Maharaja Dewa Panjang Ogek bin Uda Katab was born in 1800 and was the third child of the couple Uda Katab bin Toh Adap Kanda Aman and Ngah Mariam binti Toh Andak Majiwa, who resided in Kampung Gajah, Perak. His other siblings, from eldest to youngest, were Alang Kontin, Ngah Aminah, and the youngest, Pandak Inu.

He was destined to have two marriages with his beloved wives and had 15 children from his union with his first wife, Toh Kesuma Long Sharipah binti Toh Seri Nara Diraja Pandak Manan, and his second wife, Anjang Latipah binti Toh Nara Anan.

During his lifetime, Toh Maharaja Dewa Panjang Ogek bin Uda Katab served under two Sultans of Perak: His Royal Highness the 24th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Ali Al-Mukammal Inayat Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Shahabuddin Riayat Shah (1865–1871), and His Royal Highness the 26th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Abdullah Muhammad Shah II Ibni Almarhum Sultan Jaafar Safiuddin Muadzam Shah (1874–1877).

He passed away in 1881 at the age of 81 and was laid to rest in Lambor Kiri, Perak.
