Bagan Datuk Makes New History with the Inauguration of the Waterfront Square by the Sultan of Perak

Today marks another historic moment for the Bagan Datuk District as the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, graciously officiated the Bagan Datuk Waterfront Square.

The royal arrival was graced by the presence of the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Ibni Almarhum Raja Muda Musa, and the Raja Di Hilir of Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah Al Mutawwakil. Also present were the District Chiefs of Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, and Kampar, the Member of Parliament for Bagan Datuk, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, local leaders, and other distinguished guests.

Bagan Datuk, which is now the 12th district in Perak after separating from the Hilir Perak District, is increasingly becoming known as a potential tourism destination. Among the iconic locations here is Beting Beras Basah, which serves as the site for the complementary ceremonies of the Sultan of Perak's coronation.

Bagan Datuk Tourism Revolution

The Bagan Datuk Waterfront Square development project was initiated in 2023 by Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to ensure the district can compete in the state's tourism sector. Located on the banks of the Perak River, just 21 nautical miles from the Straits of Malacca, this area offers beautiful views, especially at sunset.

The square is equipped with various facilities such as recreational areas, food and beverage stalls, and public restrooms, making it a focal point for visitors from within and outside Perak to enjoy the tranquility of the riverside.

With this official opening, Bagan Datuk is expected to become a new tourism hub that contributes to the economy and development of the region.
