Wealthy Chinese Tycoon in Perak Enjoys Participating in Zakat Programs
We, the editors of orangperak.com, participated in the 2017 corporate visit program by the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAiPK) on October 31 and November 1, 2017, which involved representatives from various agencies such as corporate companies, GLCs, NGOs, media, bloggers, and special guests.
To get more detailed information and the story regarding this noble program, you can check our previous article at
Convoy and Asnaf Visit, A Corporate Program by MAIPk
which we published on the orangperak.com website back in October 2017.
Returning to the title of the article we wish to share with you all, we, the orangperak.com editorial team, were fortunate to be in the same group and witness firsthand a wealthy Chinese tycoon in Perak who enjoys involving himself in various programs organized by the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAiPK). His name is James Lim, and given his humble appearance, no one would suspect that he is the owner of a leading electronics factory in our country, Salutica Allied Solutions Sdn. Bhd.
While we were visiting the homes of the asnaf (zakat recipients)
For your information, loyal readers of orangperak.com, Salutica Allied Solutions Sdn. Bhd. is an electronics factory in Malaysia located in Ipoh, Perak, since 1990. They specialize in designing, developing, and manufacturing consumer electronic products such as bluetooth stereo headsets, smartwatches, and much more.
That is enough of a brief introduction to the Chinese individual named James Lim; please continue reading to find out why we wanted to share his story. Throughout the time we spent with him during the program, we were lucky to be in his company quite often by chance. There were times we ate together, chatted, visited the homes of the asnaf, and gave donations to villagers together. It wasn't until we reached our accommodation in Royal Belum that we had the chance to have a casual chat over afternoon tea. James Lim is not a native of Perak; he was born in Klang, Selangor.
His wife is a retired teacher from Sekolah Anderson, and we talked about many things because the deputy chairman of orangperak.com, who also participated in the program, was actually her former student. We asked Mr. James Lim why he is interested in participating in the zakat program by the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAiPK). And his answer was truly unexpected.
Mr. James Lim with his wife
"Money cannot be taken to the grave; all of this is temporary. Besides, what is the point of having a lot of money? It is better for me to help people as much as I can. If I make a profit of 1 million, giving away 100k is fine. The important thing is that everybody around me is happy, and when I see them happy, I am happy too... Human should love each other!", said James Lim. There was one story he shared while we were having afternoon tea there, about a Malay female employee at his factory who was crying all day at work. He went to ask what happened, and she replied that her husband needed urgent heart surgery costing over RM100,000.
What was truly moving was that the owner of Salutica Allied Solutions Sdn. Bhd., James Lim, helped the woman's husband by paying for the entire cost of the surgery. It turns out there are still people around us with pure and noble hearts who serve humanity regardless of religion or race. May Mr. James Lim always be healthy and continue his legacy of serving humanity! It is hoped that many more wealthy individuals out there will follow in the footsteps of Mr. James Lim. Although our meeting as orangperak.com editors with Mr. James Lim's family was brief, our conversation was so lively it felt like we had known each other for a long time, and we did not feel small at all as we were treated so well by this great individual.
