Watch Repairman Blacklisted by MPTI After Violently Smashing Glass Door
A 63-year-old watch repairman has been blacklisted by the Teluk Intan Municipal Council (MPTI) after aggressively smashing the main glass door of the MPTI building last week. As a result of his actions, the man is no longer allowed to rent any premises under MPTI in the future.
According to Perak's Exco for Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration, A. Sivanesan, MPTI will issue a notice to vacate the premises within a month to the individual involved.
Firm Action as a Lesson
“His act of going on a rampage and damaging public property is completely unacceptable. The state government will not tolerate such behavior,” Sivanesan emphasized when met by the media while attending the Chithirai Pournami celebration at the Sri Subramaniam Temple today.
He added that the decision to blacklist the man is intended to serve as a lesson to other tenants not to take actions that go beyond the bounds of the law.
It is understood that the man had failed to pay the RM150 monthly rent for his premises on Jalan Bandar for two consecutive months.
Incident of Smashing Door with a Hammer
The incident occurred last Thursday when the man was reportedly frustrated because a festival tent was set up in front of his shop without any resolution. In a fit of rage, he used a hammer to smash the glass door of the MPTI building.
The man claimed to have made several complaints to MPTI and the police, but no action was taken. Nevertheless, the damage to public property caused the authorities to take firm action against him.
With this decision, the man will not be allowed to rent any stalls or premises under MPTI in the future.
