SK Seri Langkap Student Receives Little Hero Award
Eight-year-old Nur Arisya Balqis Suhaili received the Little Hero award from the Fire Department for her bravery in saving her three younger siblings when their house was engulfed in flames.
The fire incident, which occurred on September 14, 2017, struck the victim's house in Kampung Attaduri, Langkap, at approximately 2:00 AM while everyone was fast asleep. For our loyal readers at orangperak.com, Nur Arisya Balqis Suhaili woke up because she felt the heat and smelled strong smoke. She immediately got up and saw the fire raging in the kitchen. At that time, her mother was dropping her father off at work. The older sister of three did not think twice and immediately woke her siblings to get them out of the burning house. Once outside, the fire could be seen spreading and starting to catch the neighbor's house. The eight-year-old girl ran while carrying her sibling toward her neighbor's house, which was also catching fire, and shouted, "Auntie, fire! Auntie, fire!" hoping that her neighbor would wake up and escape safely.
The quick actions of this eight-year-old sister, who is a Year 2 student at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sri Langkap, in saving her three siblings deserve praise. She added, "Balqis did all this because I didn't want anyone to get hurt or burned by the fire."
Following this, Dato Zainol Fadzi informed the Perak State Fire Department director about Nur Arisya Balqis Suhaili's bravery, and the fire department presented her with the Little Hero award for her courage.
At only 8 years old, her story deserves to be highlighted because her courage, love, and sense of responsibility as an older sister should be an example to today's generation. Sadly, our society today prefers to viral stories about cendol and spoiled girls instead.
