Perak to Appoint 829 New Village Heads Effective June 1

A total of 829 Village Heads or Chairmen of the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) in Perak will be reappointed starting June 1, following the conclusion of their two-year term on May 31.

Perak Menteri Besar, Dato Seri Saarani Mohamad, stated that the reappointments were made based on comprehensive evaluations by District Officers, taking into account criteria such as being under 65 years of age, service performance, and health status.

“We will announce the list of new Village Heads on June 1. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all JPKK Chairmen who have served with dedication over the past two years,” he said.

He said this during the Perak State Prosperous Village Award and Sejati Madani Award 2024 ceremony here today.

Saarani also urged all reappointed Village Heads to remain enthusiastic in driving state development. For those not selected, he advised them not to be disheartened and to continue contributing their energy and ideas for the progress of their respective villages.

“To those who were not reappointed, do not be resentful or discouraged. Continue to provide support and contribute ideas for the common good,” he emphasized.

Additionally, the Menteri Besar reminded all Village Heads, especially those not reappointed, to be responsible in managing JPKK finances and to ensure a smooth handover process.

These new appointments are expected to further strengthen the role of the JPKK in driving local community development in line with the state government's aspirations.
