Perak Residents Show Solidarity by Donating Blood for UPSI Student Involved in Bus Accident

The swift action of over 200 people who arrived at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) Blood Donation Center in Ipoh yesterday stunned many. This wave of solidarity was sparked after information went viral on social media requesting blood donations to help a Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) student involved in a fatal bus crash in Gerik, Perak.

According to the Beautifulnara website, the call for blood donations spread widely as many netizens shared the urgent request to help the surviving victim. Viral video footage showed the blood donation center filled with people willing to queue for long hours to donate blood to save a life.

Victim Stable, But Blood Stocks Remain Critical
All survivors are currently receiving treatment, but blood stocks at the hospital remain low. According to Derma Darah Ipoh in a statement on Facebook today, the blood supply for the UPSI bus accident victims is now sufficient following the overwhelming response from the public.

However, they emphasized that blood stocks at HRPB are still unstable, especially during festive seasons when demand is high.

“We urge the public to continue donating blood because this need is ongoing, not just for the victims of this accident, but also for other patients in need,” the hospital stated.

They also appealed, “Let us foster a culture of blood donation within the community.”

This swift and caring action by Malaysians proves that the spirit of helping one another remains strong within the community, especially when the country faces critical situations.
