Perak Government to Distribute 436 Sacrificial Cattle for Aidiladha
The Perak State Government will distribute 436 sacrificial cattle across 59 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituencies in conjunction with the upcoming Aidiladha celebration next month.
Menteri Besar, Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, stated that the contribution is the result of collaboration and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives from several state government-linked companies (GLCs).
Key contributors include the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC), Perak Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc), Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk), Lembaga Air Perak (LAP), and Perak State Secretariat Incorporated (SSI).
Fair Distribution for All
“To ensure fair and comprehensive distribution, every DUN constituency will receive at least six cattle, including areas represented by non-Muslim assemblymen,” Saarani explained in a statement today.
The distribution of these sacrificial cattle also involves mosques, suraus, security forces, associations, and selected non-governmental organizations (NGOs) throughout the state.
Sacrificial Management Process Carried Out According to Guidelines
Saarani emphasized that for DUN constituencies represented by Muslim assemblymen, the sacrificial arrangements will be managed by the respective assemblymen or their appointed representatives.
“Meanwhile, for non-Muslim DUN constituencies, district religious administrative officers will oversee the sacrificial contract process according to established guidelines,” he said.
To ensure the sacrificial rites comply with Islamic law, the state government, in collaboration with the State Mufti Department, will distribute specific implementation guidelines, particularly regarding wakalah (contracts) between the involved parties.
Shariah Compliance and Health Standards
He added that the slaughtering process will be carried out according to the regulations and guidelines of the Perak Islamic Religious Department and the Department of Veterinary Services to ensure smooth operations and compliance with Islamic laws and public health standards.
This initiative is hoped to ease the burden on the community and ensure that this year's Aidiladha celebration is more meaningful.
