Perak FC Ceases Operations, Financial Crisis Forces Legendary Club to Fold
Perak FC, one of the most prestigious clubs in Malaysian football history, has officially ceased all operations effective immediately due to an insurmountable financial crisis.
In an official statement released last night, the club's management confirmed that foreign players have been sent back to their respective countries, while final payments to local staff and players were made based on remaining funds.
"All staff and players have been informed that Perak FC will not participate in any league or tournament next season. They are now free to pursue their careers at other clubs," according to the statement posted on the club's official Facebook page.
RM40 MILLION INVESTED, RM8 MILLION DEBT SETTLED
Management revealed that since taking over the club three years ago, they had to shoulder RM8 million in debt left by the previous management. Additionally, the club was allocated RM10 million annually to cover operating costs, including salaries for players, coaches, and administrative staff.
"Every cent was spent carefully to fund four teams, coaches, and staff throughout the last season. However, after investing over RM40 million in two and a half seasons, we have to accept that the funds are exhausted, and the club can no longer continue to operate," the statement explained.
CLUB ASSETS TO BE SOLD, AWAITING PAYMENT FROM MFL
To reduce liabilities, management is still working to sell training equipment and remaining merchandise stock. They are also awaiting payment from the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to settle outstanding commitments.
"To all players and staff, we express our deepest gratitude for your dedication and contributions over the years. This is not the ending we dreamed of, but financial reality has forced us to make this decision," the statement added.
FAILED TO OBTAIN NATIONAL LICENSE, BLEAK FUTURE
Previously, on May 22, media reported that Perak FC and Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) failed to obtain the MFL national license to compete in the 2025/2026 Super League. Earlier, on April 26, Perak FC Chairman, Datuk Seri Azim Zabidi, confirmed the withdrawal of The Bos Gaurus from league competition due to chronic financial problems.
With this closure, the history of a club that was once among the most feared teams in the local football arena comes to an end, leaving a deep sense of loss for the loyal supporters who have stood firmly behind The Silver State.
